Our story
The Kittle House Inn has been a pillar of the Chappaqua community since 1790, serving as a cherished landmark, and symbol of our town’s enduring charm.

The history
Constructed in 1790, the Kittle House property began as a working farm and family home in post-Revolutionary America. Many since have called this historic site ‘home’ as it has evolved over the years, playing host to a Prohibition-era roadhouse where drinks flowed and the nights went late, a private school for girls, and now a beloved dining destination for travelers near and far.
The many lives of the Kittle House are etched into its facade. We invite our guests to muse the legacies of bygone eras.
The story continues
The latest chapter in Kittle House’s storied history began in October of 2024 when a local family became the proud new stewards of the beloved Inn. The Krase family has called Chappaqua, NY home for over 20 years and, for every occasion since moving to town, they found themselves at the Inn, celebrating moments big and small. They want the Inn to serve as the backdrop for other families’ milestones.
As the new owners, the Krase’s are committed to preserving the hotel's legacy while endeavoring to elevate the experience for guests. This marks a vibrant new beginning for the Inn.
"For years, we admired how the Kittle House was somehow both an embodiment of our quaint colonial town and a breath of fresh air. We are thrilled to build on its historic legacy and rich tradition, innovating and elevating where we can."
